If it’s always fight-night at your place over who can use the internet then the solution is to share it between you. That way one person can be on the main pc and others can use their laptops. Sharing a connection wirelessly has been well documented, but there is another method that is cheaper and easier to install. Believe it or not, you can use your mains electrical sockets to share a broadband connection. Note that you can only share via sockets that are on the same ring, ie are connected together. Usually the upstairs and downstairs sockets are not on the same ring.
The electric current doesn’t interfere as it’s on a different frequency, and there is less chance of a sneaky neighbour stealing your wireless broadband access since it is confined to the wiring.
You literally just buy a mains network starter kit and plug it in, with most having a little bit of software to help share the connection. No hassle with signals and keys, and the price is often less than a wireless kit.
